Fossil Fish, Priscacara serrata
Probably Nick's most interesting assignment to date. This piece is a reconstruction of 50 million year old fossil from the Green River Formation in Wyoming. In order to determine the likely real-life coloration of this fish, Nick had a series of correspondences with Dr. John Whitlock of Mt. Aloysius college, an expert on this species' lineage. Serrata's closest relatives are the Moronids--Striped Bass, Yellow Bass, White Bass. Perfect card for a fish or paleo geek!
